This quick + easy crusty bread recipe will be a go-to if you’re a newbie to bread!

As far as kitchen tools/goods, all you’ll need is a dutch oven, parchment paper, and your oven! I use my stand mixer with a dough hook, too, and it makes it super easy but you could probably use a wooden spoon if you don’t have a mixer!

EASY BREAD RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS

  • 3.5 cups flour (i use organic whole wheat usually but it’s worked with all-purpose too! i have no experience with gluten free options but if you try it out, let me know how it goes!)
  • 1.5 cups water (i use a kettle to get it to about 110 degrees, for yeast purposes)
  • 2 1/4 tsp. dry yeast (one packet of the rapid rise instant yeast)
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar

the steps:

1) mix all the ingredients together in the mixer with a dough hook. it will take a few minutes to actually form a ball – just be patient! i usually tidy up the kitchen while it mixes bc #efficiency.

2) cover the bowl that you mixed the ingredients in with a dish cloth (just lay it on top) and let it rise for 2-3 hours. (just until it about doubles in size. i usually only do 2 hours bc i’m slightly rushing to have it ready by the meal)

3) fold on a floured surface. nothing too fancy – just spread some flour on your counter and fold the dough/shape it into a nice circle loaf. this step makes me feel v domestic.

4) let rise on parchment paper for 1 hr. i just put the cute little dough ball on parchment paper and cover it with the same dish towel while it rises.

5) preheat the oven to 450.

6) transfer the parchment paper/dough to the dutch oven. bake for 30 minutes with the lid on, then remove the lid and bake for another 20 min.

Voiiiiilllla. Easy bread with very little work. Just gotta make sure you allot about 5 hours for the whole process, which ain’t bad in the bread world.
